Paddles & Pathways at Mattamuskeet

This event offers a fun and unique opportunity for community members and visitors to explore new areas of the Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge by water and by land. Kayaks will be available for rent, with approximately three miles of scenic waterways to enjoy without entering the lake, while about eight miles of maintained trails on the east side of the refuge are open for walking, biking, or driving. Additional trail maps can be found at the refuge office, and members of the Mattamuskeet Lodge Society will be on site to share the rich history of the area and the iconic Mattamuskeet Lodge. Guests can also take part in wildlife education opportunities and a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day.
